I would like to have more natural breast, how can I reach that?
Nowadays we have anatomic prosthesis, which means, with a drop shape and therefore which look more natural. What we can obtain with this is a more natural neckline because it has more volume in the lower part. The important thing in these cases is the proportion more that the volume itself.. 

Are there different kinds of prosthesis?
There are different kinds of materials such as cohesive gel silicone and saline solution. And there are many shapes, round, drop-shape and different surface, smooth, and with texture.. 

Where are prosthesis put?
They can be put under the pectoral muscles or under the mammary glands depending on each 

Can it be done under local anaesthetics or sedation?
Though it can be done, that is not the way we do it, because of safety and precision reasons. That is why we use general anaesthetics. 

Is hospitalization required?
We do recommend it, during the first 24 hours where you have to rest in order to avoid bruises or bleeding. 

How long is the operation?
Around one hour and a half in case the prosthesis is anatomic or with a drop shape because we need to be more precise. 

How long do I need to work leave?
One week when the implant is under the muscles and even less when it is located under the glands. Lymphatic drainage will help you go back to work as soon as possible. In order to practice sport you will have to wait for three weeks. 

What scars will I have?
The incision needed is very small and discreet. It can be done around the areola or just under the line under your breast. Anyway it will hardly be seen. 

Will I be able to breast-feed my children?
Yes, you will. This kind of surgery doesn’t affect breast-feeding, its quality or quantity. 

Can I have mammograms done after surgery?
Yes, there is no problem. In fact is cases of under muscle prosthesis it will be even easier. 

Will I be able to practice sport as usual?
Yes, there is no problem.

Can prosthesis provoke breast cancer? What if I have family background?
Numerous Studies have demonstrated that prosthesis, silicone or saline solution don’t increase the risk of suffering cancer. In fact, these types of prosthesis are also used for breast reconstruction post mastectomy. Even if you have family background in cancer you can have a breast augmentation though we recommend a mammogram alter the surgery in order to have a control in the future. 

How long does the prosthesis need to be replaced?
Normally they are life lasting. They must only been changed in case they break, leak or erosion. But you also have to bear in mind that your body will change and therefore the implant you’ve got today must not fit in the future in 15-20 years time, and that’s why they will need to be replaced.. 

What if it breaks?
In that case you will need to have them replaced. Current prosthesises avoid fibrous reactions around the silicone drops because they are made of cohesive gel. Anyway they will need to be replaced to avoid infection, capsular contraction, swelling…risk. 

If the breast is heavier with the prosthesis, will they fall before?
Although the breast will follow its natural evolution, in patients with prosthesis flaccidity will be less because the prosthesis will help the breast not to fall as quickly. 

What’s the difference between putting the implants before or after the muscle?
Although in the past it was said that putting the prosthesis under the muscle could reduce the capsular contracture percentage because prosthesis and gland are separated, but nowadays it is known that we can also isolate the prosthesis by an aponeurosis of the pectoral muscles. For this reason the position of the implant will be decided depending on the breast, the pectoral muscles, flaccidity… 

What relation is there between cancer and implant?
Mammary implants do not produce breast cancer. There’s evidence that cancer will not grow faster in a breast with augmentation compared to those cases without prosthesis. Anyway you will have to get used to your new breast shape in order to explore it properly in order to detect any modification in your breast. If you have mammograms done you will have to tell your radiologist. If you need it we can recommend and expert on breast augmentation tests. 

What happens with pregnancy and breast feeding?
Implanted women can get pregnant with normality without any problems. You will also be able to breast-feed your baby because prosthesis are located alter the mammary glands. However you must bear in mind that because of breast growth during pregnancy the shape of your breast can change… 

Will I be able to practice sport?
Having a prosthesis does not affect practicing sport, not even at professional level. 

Can I have stretching marks after having the prosthesis put?
When the implant is proportioned stretching marks hardly ever appear, though there is more risk when the augmentation is very big. 

Will I keep my sensitivity?
During the first few weeks after surgery is normal to have less sensitivity. It is normally recovered in the 99% of the cases. 

What kind of bras can I use?
During the first 3 weeks you will have to use a sports bra we will give you 24 hours a day in order to avoid prosthesis rotation. After that we recommend to use bras without underwire during a couple of months.

After breast feeding my children my breast looks fallen and without any volume, as well as with stretch marks, can they be risen as well as having a nicer look?
As a consequence of mammary distension because of breast-feeding and the loss of volume, the skin of the breast looses its contention Skull. In order to correct this aspect the breast can be raised as well as an silicon implant can be put in some cases.  

What age is good to have the breast risen?

How long does the result last for?
They are normally long lasting. Anyway this will also depend on the quality of your skin. Because of mastopexy the fall of breast will be slower. In some cases implants are required in the upper zone and in this case results are even longer lasting. 

I smoke quite a lot, do I have any risks?
Yes, microcirculation of the skin is changes by smoking. That is why we recommend you to give up smoking at least two weeks in advanced. On the contrary risks such as losing the areola and necrosis are possible.  

Do I have to stay in a position to sleep?
You will only have to avoid to sleep face down during the first month alter surgery.  

Apart from having flaccidity one of my breasts is bigger, can this be solved?
Yes, it all depends on a good pre-surgery planning. Further complications will not appear.

Will I be able to breast-feed my baby alter reducing my breast?
Normally it is possible to breast-feed after this kind of operations. However, you might take into account it is possible you won’t be able to breast- feed because you might not produce it.  

Will I lose sensitivity in my nipples?

Will this solve my back problems?
Big breasts are often the cause for many pains in the back originated by alterations in your vertebral column, mainly in cervical level.  

Which technique do you recommend?
Basically those techniques of superior pedicle with are the most lasting ones.  

How many possibilities are there to develop cancer in the operated breast?
You have the same chances to develop cancer than those who haven’t been operated. This surgery does not affect that and breast can be studied and checked as usual.  

Will it hurt alter surgery?
You will hardly feel any pain. Thanks to the physiotherapist sessions after surgery, in 24-48 hours time you will be able to have a normal life and go back to work in the first week.
