In the initial appointment, Dr. Guilarte wil evaluate your health, and he will determine the extension of the accumulation of fat in the zone and the skin colour.

Due to the fact that you only have accumulation in the lower part of the abdomen under the umbilicus, this surgery will need less time in the clinic and the duration of the surgery will be shorter.

The most common anesthetics used in abdominoplasty is the epidural or spinal, during which your legs and abdomen will not fill anything during 4 hours.

A complete mini-abdominoplasty normally needs 1-2 hours, depending on the correction needed. This surgery is done through an only incision over the pubis nor needing to cut around the umbilicus.

The procedure consists on separating the skin from the abdomen upwards until you rich the umbilicus. Then the muscles are stretched and joined in the medium line, obtaining this way a firm abdomen and a thin waist. The separated skin is stretch until the pubis and the excess is cut.

However, strong exercise must be avoided during the first month. Scars might seem to get worse during the first 3-6 months while they are healing, but they will lose that colour afterwards.

You will have to wait around 9 months or 1 year until the scar smooth although scars will stay forever they will not be able to be seen when wearing bikini or swimming suit. Scars around the umbilicus and under the abdomen will get better with the time.
